I’ve never entered a photo contest. My sister is the photo taker of the family, she’s the one that told me about this. So if I win (not likely) she gets the loot! The theme for the contest is

This evening when I was done with work, I called Rick to tell him I had to run to the bank and store before I came home. He told me I HAD to bring home chocolate ice cream because Sam had earned it. We’ve had a hard time with Sam the last couple of years days in the listening department, so I was a little surprised. Rick said Sam had a BIG surprise for me. I had no idea what to expect when I got home…

We are so proud of him. He is still working on getting started, but once he’s going he does great. Rick had to push the idea a little this afternoon, but once our yard gets started (concrete guys are coming Thursday!!!), Rick won’t have time to do work with him. So it was now or never or wait until next summer! Rick said he took off on the first try. Even brought tears to his eyes… shh… don’t tell him I told you that!

I love to read. I go through reading spurts… this is one of them. Last night I started a new book, 3rd one since Friday. I’ve been staying up way too late, but I get so into the story I have a hard time putting them down. I’ve decided to add a section to my blog of the books I’ve read recently. Most of them are from this year, but a few are from last year. I know there are some that I am forgetting. I’ve been checking digital books out at the library and if I rate them it keeps a list of things I’ve read, that way I won’t forget! If you are reading something you love, sent me the title, I’ll add it to my list. Whenever I hear about a good book I add it to one of 3 lists… the library, Amazon or the Sony Reader store. That way I always have a big selection to choose from.

Today was Evelyn’s ballet recital and I’m going to do a little horn tooting! She did wonderful and looked beautiful. At the end of the recital her teacher had some awards to give out. Evelyn received the “En Pointe Award” for an outstanding year at ballet. Only one of these awards is given each year and it brought tears to my eyes to see Evelyn be the girl chosen out of 17 girls. By getting this award she will get 20% off tuition for the next year! I don’t think she really understands what a big deal this is. She worked so hard and we are so proud of her. I didn’t realize how well she was doing until going to the dress rehearsal Friday night. She dances around the house all the time, but I could really see a ballet dancer in her this weekend.
Unfortunately I’m still a novice with our new video camera. I recorded in too high of a mode to upload to the web. Sorry! So if you want to see her performance, you’ll have to come see us and watch it on the big screen! lol!
Lately I’ve been telling this boy
that he needs to stay 3 forever. He doesn’t want to be 3, but he does want to be 5. It must be in his genes… I thought life began at 5, or so I’m told.
Now mind you, he won’t be 4 until July.
